The Show On this week's show we had the second and final part of our recent interview with our hero Jean-Jacques Perrey and his current musical partner Dana Countryman o the subject of their new album, Destination Space. We also played tracks from the wonderful new Squarepusher album Just A Souvenir as well as tracks from some great new reissues. The Music We kicked things off with tracks from three great reissues that have recently appeared on various subsidiary labels of Cherry Red: 1. The Keith Mansfield Orchestra - Soul Confusion (All You Need Is Keith Mansfield, 1968) 2. Roger Nichols & The Small Circle Of Friends - Always You (Full Circle) 3. Gary McFarland & Gabor Szabo - Gypsy Jam (Sketch For Summer, 1965) And then a brand new track from the wonderful new Squarepusher album: 4. Squarepusher - Star Time 2 (Just A Souvenir, 2008) This next track is from the sampler CD given away free with the current edition of The Wire: 5. micronormous - Rainland (The Wire Tapper 20, 2008) Then it was time for the penultimate section of our recent interview with Jean-Jacques Perrey and Dana Countryman followed by one of the standout tracks from their new album: 6. Jean-Jacques Perrey and Dana Countryman - Funky Little Spacegirl (Destination Space, 2008) Then another track from the new Squarepusher album, this one a wonderfully cheesy slice of vocoder fun: 7. Squarepusher - A Real Woman (Just A Souvenir, 2008) Then another track from the Keith Mansfield album, this was was first introduced to me by some bloke calles fuz: 8. The Keith Mansfield Orchestra - Boogaloo (All You Need Is Keith Mansfield, 1968) Last week we played a slice of contemporary exotica from Medeski, Martin and Wood's latest album. Here's another track, this one altogether more prog-esque: 9. Medeski, Martin and Wood - Agmatia (Zaebos: the Book of Angels, Vol. 2, 2008) Then it was time for the last part of our interview with Jean-Jacques Perrey and Dana Countryman. We followed this with one of the daftest tracks from the new album which had me laughing out loud when I first heard it: 10. Jean-Jacques Perrey and Dana Countryman - Kittens on the Moon (Destination Space, 2008) Followed by another track featuring cats and dogs getting on famously: 11. The Beatle Barkers - We Can Work It Out (The Exotic Beatles Volume 1) We closed the show with tracks from the recent reissues from Roger Nichols and Gary McFarland and Gabor Szabo: 12. Roger Nichols & The Small Circle Of Friends - Talk It Over In The Morning (Full Circle) 13. Gary McFarland & Gabor Szabo - Bloop Bleep (Sketch For Summer, 1965) The News
